Alden Ravello Shell Cordovan Leisure Handsewn
Alden makes an absolutely outstanding Penny Loafer with their LHSes. It is stocked regularly in Color #8 and Black Shell Cordovan and a variety of other leathers. Occasionally, a vendor offers this classic American staple in the rare Ravello Shell Cordovan.
I got to say, back when I bought these loafers, TheShoeMart used to show them on their website. I would regularly peruse their site and look at this shoe. I absolutely loved the color and the classic American loafer pattern just appealed to me. I also loved the “two-toned” look that the loafer had with the strap appearing darker than the rest of the loafer from certain angles. Obviously, I was more than thrilled when these became available for my purchase.
My pair, pictured above is the classic Ravello version with the Tan “Antique” Edges. They were made back in 2010. The color of the Ravello on these LHSes is just to die for. I briefly had a pair from Harrison Ltd. that had a mahogany (darker) edge, but decided to return them, as they weren’t my best size.
Below is these Ravello LHSes from one of their earlier journeys, back in 2013.
Now, four years later, these Ravello LHSes are still going strong (along with my first and still favorite pairs of Epaulet Trousers, the Cedar Lavender Check Rivet Chinos).
