Alden Snuff Suede Tassel Loafer
When it comes to the Tassel Loafer, it is hard to beat the Alden Tassel Loafer. I mean, Alden did invent the Tassel Loafer. They say that it is “Often imitated, never duplicated”.
This Snuff Suede tassel loafer keeps the same heart as their far more traditional Shell Cordovan Tassel Loafer, but with a bit more spunk.
These beautiful loafers are made on the same Aberdeen Last as their Shell brethren and feature the same decorative stitching. These Snuff Suede Tassels were made for Alden of San Francisco and feature a Flex-Welt for superior comfort and water performance.

Mike, between the flex waterloc soles and the regular oak soles, which do you prefer? Would love your thoughts on the pros and cons of the two. Thanks!
Peter, that is an interesting question. I find that the Flex Welt breaks in much quicker than the Single Leather sole due to it having been soaked in oil. It is also supposed to be more water repellent that the Leather sole. The Leather Sole is more traditional though and will last a pidge longer.

Are the navy suede tassel loafers available at either the Alden Shop of San Francisco or Alden of New England? I’ve never seen them before but they’re gorgeous and would be a fine addition to my shoe wardrobe.
If they’re not available as a ready made shoe, then can they be custom ordered through Alden of New England?

Great to hear from a fellow San Diego Alden fan! The Navy Suede Tassels were available from a wide variety of stores including Alden SF, Alden DC, and Alden Madison. I would give them a call and see if they have a pair in your size… Between all the various retailers you should be able to find a pair… Unfortunately, Alden will no longer do made to order designs for us… Hope that helps!
